With a fresh series order, and production now underway, FX has begun marketing Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming vampire horror television series The Strain. It was created by del Toro and Chuck Hogan, based on their novel trilogy of the same name, and stars Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, and Kevin Durand. Carlton Cuse will step in as showrunner with a pilot written and directed by del Toro who remains onboard as an executive producer. The thirteen-episode first season of The Strain will start airing next July. Watch the clip below.
Synopsis: A plane lands at John F. Kennedy International Airport with lights off and doors sealed. Epidemiologist Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll) and his team are sent to investigate. On board they find two hundred corpses and four survivors. The situation deteriorates when the bodies begin disappearing from morgues. Goodweather and a small group of helpers find themselves battling to protect not only their own loved ones, but the entire city, from an ancient threat to humanity.
