Watch the opening titles of Showtime’s The Affair, with an original song by Fiona Apple

The Affair

With series such as Homeland and Masters of Sex, cable channel Showtime has made its mark in the current television landscape, both critically and commercially. The newest offering from the channel is called The Affair, and is co-created by In Treatment alum Hagai Levi and Sarah Treem. The show focuses on the effects of an extramarital affair on two couples, with the four leads being played by Dominic West, Ruth Wilson, Joshua Jackson, and Maura Tierney. Ahead of the show’s premiere, Showtime has now released the opening titles, which feature a new song by Fiona Apple, titled “Container”, that was written exclusively for the show. Co-creator Treem, a longtime fan of Apple, personally approached the singer-songwriter, and had this to say:

If our show can approach one tenth of the depth and complexity of her song, I’ll be very happy.

The opening titles, complete with the song, can be seen below. The Affair premieres on October 12th at 10 pm ET.
