Say it ain’t so Jon! Say it ain’t so!

Comedy Central took to Twitter on Tuesday to reveal the news that Jon Stewart, host of The Daily Show, would be stepping down. The host revealed this news during the taping of Tuesday’s episode with more details expected to come out when the episode airs later tonight.

The full statement from Comedy Central’s Twitter is below:

Stewart has been behind the chair on The Daily Show for the past 12 years with the show’s success spawning off spin-off comedy talk shows from Stephen Colbert, Larry Wilmore, and John Oliver. Now, the replacement for Stewart is in question with Colbert heading to CBS to take over The Late Show for David Letterman, Wilmore just starting his own show, and Oliver’s Last Week Tonight doing well over at HBO.

While still hosting the show, Stewart has begun to branch out from it with the most recent example being his directorial debut with Rosewater last year.
