Nintendo announces new DLC for ‘Super Smash Bros.’ and more

Lucas

After announcing the latest Legend of Zelda game for the WiiU would be delayed until next year, Nintendo really needed to come strong with their latest edition of Nintendo Direct, which debuted earlier this evening at 6:00 PM. While I was somewhat disappointed, although not surprised, that there wasn’t an announcement of another “Big Three” title (I’m looking at you Metroid), Nintendo did deliver a few pleasant surprises, while also confirming a few rumours along the way. Kicking off the show, Nintendo Direct confirmed that MewTwo will be added to Super Smash Bros. as a DLC character for everyone to download, and not just those loyal customers who registered the game before March 31st. MewTwo will be available for download on April 28th for $3.99 or $4.99 if you download the character on both the 3DS and Wii U.

While it wasn’t a surprise that MewTwo would be released, the announcement of Lucas, the character taken from the Mother (Earthbound) series (and who was featured in Super Smash Bros. Brawl) will also be available for download this June. And if that wasn’t enough, a series of crossover costumes for your Mii Fighter (including Zelda, Xenoblade and Mega Man) will retail for a very reasonable $0.75 each, or $1.15 for both the Wii U and 3DS versions. These will launch on April 15th.

Finally, Nintendo has opened a new fan poll for Super Smash Bros. allowing fans to vote on which other characters they should release in the near future. Imagine playing with Bayonetta, Yoshi or even Ryu? Well now anything is possible, so long as enough fans head over and vote.
