After Life, which began airing in 2019, is a black comedy series that was created by Ricky Gervais, who also writes and directs the episodes. Gervais plays Tony Johnson, a man whose life drastically changes following the unexpected death of his wife. Currently, there are two seasons available on Netflix.

Immediately there are many parallels that can be drawn between these shows and the issues they address. After all, like The Good Place, this is also a comedy series about the afterlife, albeit a digital one.
