The first wave of films for the 2015 Fantastic Fest have been announced

As genre cinema has found more fans around the world, their place in film festivals have also grown, with genre getting its dedicated sections in acclaimed festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness section. The demand, however, has grown now to allow for festivals dedicated to genre cinema, and one of the more notable stops in the latter group is Fantastic Fest. Running for a decade now, the 2015 incarnation of Fantastic Fest will be held once again in Austin, Texas, running from September 24th to October 1st. The first wave of films that will play at the festival have now been announced.

The Festival’s closing night film will be S. Craig Zahler’s Bone Tomahawk, which will be making its World Premiere. Kurt Russell and Matthew Fox, who star in the feature, will also be in attendance at the festival. The 2015 Festival will also have a retrospective on genre cinema from Turkey, alongside a programming series by Drive and Only God Forgives filmmaker Nicholas Winding Refn.   • In Search of Ultra Sex, directed by Nicolas Charlet and Bruno Lavaine, making its North American premiere
  • The Invitation, directed by Karyn Kusama, making a special screening
  • Liza the Fox Fairy, directed by Károly Ujj-Mészáros, making a regional premiere
  • Love and Peace, directed by Sion Sono, making its US premiere
  • Lovemilla, directed by Teemu Nikk, making its North American premiere
  • The Man Who Saves The World, directed by Çetin Inanç and released in 1982, making a repertory screening
  • My Body Hungers, directed by Joseph W. Sarno and released in 1967, making a repertory screening
  • Office, directed by Hong Won-Chan, making its US premiere
  • Remake, Remix, Rip-Off, directed by Cam Kaya, making its US premiere
  • Ruined Heart, directed by Khavn de la Cruz, making its regional premiere
  • Sensoria, directed by Christian Hallman, making its World premiere
  • The Similars, directed by Isaac Ezban, making its World premiere

  • Stand By For Tape Back-up, directed by Ross Sutherland, making its US premiere
