Zack Snyder’s ‘Sucker Punch’ Delivers a Suprise Blow

Sucker Punch has been described as Alice in Wonderland with machine guns, but I would like to believe, coming from Zack Snyder’s mind, that it will be so much more than that. Little has been said or revealed about this production until the San Diego Comic-Con hit this weekend. Not only has the website launched with a great visual homepage, but six character posters were also released that display the lovely and dangerous women of Sucker Punch. This is Snyder’s first original story that he has been writing for a few years during all his adaptations and remakes (Dawn of the Dead, Watchmen, 300, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole). With his great visionary sense and a keen eye for action sequences, this film should have a great look to it. This will be a great way to kick-off 2011 and I cannot wait for this adventure to unfold.

This new world that Snyder has created is set in the 1950’s where we follow our heroine, Baby Doll (Emily Browning). She is confined to a mental hospital by her abusive father where she is to be lobotomized in five days. Within this time she plots an escape, but where we escape to is within the depths of her mind where she believes she is a virgin and a man is coming to deflower her. She meets five fellow inmates (Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Jamie Chung and Jena Malone) that help each other escape going in and out of fantasy with dragons, German soldier zombies, mecha robots, and much more!  The picture also stars Carla Gugino, Jon Hamm, Oscar Isaac and Scott Glenn.

Sucker Punch hits theaters March 25, 2011!!! And visit the Sucker Punch Website here!

SuperHeroHype! also has a great interview, with light spoilers, with writer/director Zach Snyder and his wife Co-producer Deborah.
