Adam Berg May Direct “Deadpool”

Good news for fans of Marvel Comics. The upcoming Deadpool movie might have found a promising director for the job. After Robert Rodriguez lost interest in the project, several established directors were rumored to be in consideration but now it seems Marvel and Fox might go in a different direction and hand over the reigns to a Television commercial director.

According to LA Times’ 24 Frames, Adam Berg, commercial and video director, is now in the running for the gig. If he is hired, it will be his first feature film but he already has the support of several people behind the franchise including star Ryan Reynolds.

Adam Berg is best known for his work on the short Carousel, a stylish commercial (made for Philips TVs) that takes you into the action during a showdown between the police and some criminals in clown costumes.

Berg has a great eye for action set-pieces and showcases a style reminiscent to Zach Snyder (Watchmen, 300).

The filmmaker has definitely proven to dazzle audiences with his slow motion, freeze frames and other forms of visual experimentation, but we still don’t know if he can tell a good story and if he is even a fan of the Marvel comic book.

Could Berg make a Deadpool movie that will satisfy both general moviegoers and comic book geeks? Only time will tell. In the meantime we’ve posted five of his commercials to view below.
