Aside from the extremely brief announcement trailer at E3 2014, Naughty Dog have kept quiet on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, the next (and final) outing for everyone’s favorite tomb raider (sorry Lara). Thankfully, all that changed over the weekend at Sony’s Playstation Experience in Las Vegas. Unleashing a mighty 15-minute video – which readers can check out below – viewers were treated to a fairly long sequence that gave some idea of what to expect when Drake finally lands on PS4.

The answer, hardly surprisingly, seems to be ‘more of the same’. Those of you not enamored with clambering up cliff-sides, mowing down a small country’s worth of baddies and wise-cracking as you do it probably won’t have their opinions swayed much. Which doesn’t mean there hasn’t been some changes; Naughty Dog used the trailer to show off some of Drake’s new moves, including the use of a grappling hook to traverse the environment and swing down onto enemies, as well as the ability to sneak through thick foliage to launch sneak attacks. Hardly revelatory, but hey, if it ain’t broke.

The environment Drake fights in is pleasingly open, too, set on a series of rocky pillars with goons attacking from every angle. Graphics-wise, it’s perhaps not quite as impressive as the initial reveal, but this is early days and it’s definitely a step above his previous outings on PS3.

Viewers who stick around (or skip ahead) for the ending will be treated to a bit of narrative, as Drake meets up with his hitherto-unmentioned older brother, Sam – voiced by The Last of Us’ Troy Baker.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will launch on PS4 sometime in 2015. For more discussion on the rest of Sony’s announcements, check out Episode 11 of Open Source here.
