Neil Patrick Harris can finally be crossed off your Oscar host wish list, as he has been named the host for 2015’s 87th Annual Academy Awards Ceremony on Sunday, February 22.
Oscar producer Neil Moran tweeted the news earlier today, and NPH himself shared a short video of him crossing this task off his own bucket list.
we are so THRILLED that @ActuallyNPH will be our #Oscars host this year. Welcome to the #Oscars stage @craigzadan @TheAcademy

Patrick Harris has had great success as a host of both the Emmys and Tonys in the past few years, but the Oscars have always eluded him because he’s never been much of a movie guy. That changed this month with the release of Gone Girl, a sure-fire contender, and NPH is fantastic in it.
He’s got a tough act to follow though, as Ellen DeGeneres’s hosting stint last year drew the best ratings the broadcast has seen in over a decade.
What do you think of the choice of Neil Patrick Harris as the Oscar host? Will you watch?
