Nintendo’s Twist on the 2015 Academy Awards

In anticipation of the Academy Awards this weekend, Nintendo has come up with its own strange twist on the event. In order to celebrate the 2015 Oscar nominees, they’ve decide to address who they believe should walk away with one of the statuettes – that is for imaginary categories. This latest PR effort from Nintendo of America is a bit silly, but so is the Oscars.

The winners for each category are:

  • The Princess Peach Award, for best female costume in a movie – Maleficent
  • The Samus Aran Award, for strongest female character – Olivia Evans – Boyhood
  • The Smash Award, for best fight scene of the year – Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
  • The Dragonite Award, for best film featuring a dragon – How To Train Your Dragon 2
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Award, for best music scene in a film – Whiplash
  • The Star Fox Award, for best barrel roll in a movie – Guardians of the Galaxy
