Great Cast For “The Greatest Muppet Movie’

The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made, spearheaded by star and fan Jason Segel is expanding with huge casting updates announced today. Nine new names are being added to the roster of talent which include Jack Black, Donald Glover (Community), Jane Lynch (Glee), Danny Trejo (Machete), Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family), John Krasinski (The Office), Ed Helms (The Hangover), Lady Gaga and Paul Rudd (I Love You Man).

Paul Rudd will evidently voice Walter The Muppet, the new character who stars alongside Segel and Amy Adams. Segel will play the lead role, a human named Gary, whose best friend is the puppet bear Walter. Together they go on a journey with Gary’s girlfriend Mary to defeat the evil Tex Richman, a man who doesn’t find the Muppets funny and thinks he can smell oil beneath their studio. Production Weekly has also identified Black and Glover as new cast members with no roles attributed as of yet and Lady Gaga will be playing herself. According to TheWrap, Lynch is set to play a prison guard, with Trejo as her prisoner and Zach Galifianakis (Due Date) will play a new character called Hobo Jo.

James Bobin will direct from a script by Segel and Nicholas Stoller (Get Him to the Greek) and the movie will hit theaters December 25, 2011.
