Paul Rudd Will Not Appear In The ‘Muppets Movie’

With the increasing number of casting reports for Disney’s new Muppets movie, it’s been hard to keep track of what is true and what is simply a rumour. A few weeks ago we published a bit of news stating that Jane Lynch and Paul Rudd were set to star in the upcoming film along side an allstar line up. Just two days later it was announced that Jane Lynch was actually not set to appear in the film and now after a few weeks have gone by, we have also learned that neither will Paul Rudd.

Speaking with MTV News, Rudd said, “I wish that I was [in it]. It’s all rumor… I wanted to be in it, and I talked to Jason, but I think there was some things that happened and I don’t know if I’m gonna get to do it.”

James Bobin (Flight of the Conchords) is directing the film from a script by Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller (Get Him to the Greek). The story revolves around The Muppets reuniting after a huge falling out to save The Muppet Studios in Hollywood. They have to put on a show in the Muppet Theater and get 10 million viewers to save the Studios from an evil Texas oil tycoon.

Here is a list of actors that are reported to still be appearing in the fllm:

Jack Black, Zach Galifianakis, Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones, Donald Glover, Danny Trejo, Eric Stonestreet, John Krasinski, Ed Helms, Lady Gaga, Alan Arkin, Billy Crystal, and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

The film is set to be released on December 25th, 2011.
