In an age of reviving and building franchises, the Ghostbusters universe is coming back at Mr. Stay Puft proportions.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony and Ghost Corps (a Sony-sponsored production company led by Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman and writer/actor Dan Akyroyd) may be adding an animated Ghostbusters film to its list of upcoming installments.

Paul Fieg’s reboot, with an female led cast that includes Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig, is already in post-production and scheduled to open July 15th of 2016, and the Russo brothers (Captain America: Winter Soldier) are slated to direct a companion film starring Channing Tatum and a male led cast.

Fans of all opinions can take some solace in the fact that part of the creative team behind the original series is overseeing the rebooted franchise.
