Fox gives series orders to four new shows

Fox added four new shows to their slate for the 2015-2016 television season, with series orders going to the Rob Lowe-Fred Savage comedy The Grinder, the Morris Chestnut-starring Rosewood, the John Stamos-starring Grandfathered, and The Guide to Surviving Life.

The Grinder is executive produced by Nicholas Stoller, with Ground Floor creator Greg Malins signed on as showrunner. The show revolves around Rob Lowe’s character Dean Sanderson, an actor who plays a lawyer on television. When his show comes to an end, Sanderson decides to return to his family’s real-life law firm, considering himself qualified. Fred Savage plays Lowe’s brother, with William Devane and Mary Elizabeth Ellis also co-starring in the series.

Rosewood is a medical crime procedural that sees Morris Chestnut play a private pathologist who assists the police on cases.

Grandfathered hails from The Office‘s Danny Chun, and revolves around John Stamos’ character, a bachelor who suddenly discovers the existence of a biological child of his one day, before finding out that his child has a child of their own, making him a grandfather. Paget Brewster and Josh Peck co-star in the series.

The Guide to Surviving Life has signed Scrubs and Psych writer Bill Callahan as showrunner. It revolves around a lead character who uses his own life experiences to dispense advice to others. Meaghan Rath and Justin Bartha co-star in the series.
