In the latest of the departures from Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, Samantha Bee, the show’s longest serving regular “correspondent”, is starting her own show on TBS, Deadline reports.
Bee’s husband and fellow former Daily Show correspondent Jason Jones is also signed on at TBS for a family sitcom that he co-wrote and will executive produce. But unlike Jones’s scripted comedy, Bee will be hosting her own show, possibly in a late-night time slot.
Not much specifically is known yet about either Bee’s show or Jones’s sitcom. We wait with baited breath to learn if the new show will in fact be called Samantha Bee’s Lady Bits, because it really seems like the best title. Bee and Jones join Conan O’Brien as part of the TBS “funny” lineup, and with a comedy troupe like that, we can only hope that many inter-show hijinks ensue.
No word yet on when Bee’s departure from The Daily Show will take place or when her new show will begin.
