5) The Flaming Lips & Bon Iver “Ashes In The Air”

Kicking off this week’s 5 Best Music Videos Of The Week is the latest from both The Flaming Lips and Bon Iver. This collaboration caused quite a stir and the video created an even bigger outrage. The pairing of The Flaming Lips and Bon Iver on paper sounds really cool and promising but in reality the outcome is a bit too weird and disappointing. The video follows the adventures of an astronaut which feature splattered brains and half-nude figures. This is probably the strangest thing the Lips have placed their name against in a decade.

4) Tyler, The Creator “IFHY”
Directed by Wolf Haley

Technically, this was released last week but I couldn’t find a spot for it so it gets a mention this week. This is the second single off “WOLF” and even weirder and better than the first. I don’t think I have ever seen a boring Tyler, The Creator video, or an Odd Future one for that matter. Like all his videos, Tyler directs it himself and keeps it weirder than ever for this song about love.

3) KEN mode “Counter Culture Complex”

A few moody, outdoor music videos from Canadian artists were released this week and it’s safe to say KEN mode’s “Counter Culture Complex” is more interesting than Drake’s “5AM In Toronto”. It’s an awesome and badass collection of traditional black metal imagery. From bleak forests in the winter to warrior princesses covered in leather, the video doesn’t suit their usual noise-rock sound but it’s still entertaining.

2) Junip “Your Live Your Call”
Directed by Mikel Cee Karlsson

Junip are the band José González leads when he’s not making music on his own. The trio are getting ready to release a self-titled sophomore album and have already provided us with a cold and disturbing video for single “Line Of Fire”. This week they released a video for “Your Live Your Call” and the director Mikel Cee Karisson and a few of the last video’s characters are back to tell the story of a chilling love triangle.

1) Cat Power “Manhattan”
Directed by Greg Hunt and Chan Marshall

There’s not a lot to say about this video other than every city deserves a video as pleasant as this. Cat Power is awesome and “Manhattan” is one of the most enjoyable, music videos I have seen all year.
